The first and second grade is a combined class. They love to gather round and watch artful demonstrations. This class is very creative so I decided to help them build some make believe castles out of shapes. you will see that our main shapes were rectangles but triangles, circles, and squares also made an appearance.
We broke this lesson in two. First we drew all of the plans and building shapes. Second, we put in detail and texture. Now was the chance to turn their castle form into a candy castle or any other make believe thing. Hence, the dragons entered the picture.
